Formative assessment, when done well, represents one of the most powerful tools available for educators to inform student achievement.  Good formative assessment provides scaffolding for summative assessments to support valid and reliable judgements about how learners are doing relative to state science education standards.  Educators are invited to join Heidi Schweingruber and Peter McLaren for a discussion forum around implementing a classroom-based system of assessment.
